Nigerian Optometric Association, Edo State Chapter, Marks 2025 World Sight Day with Thanksgiving and Free Eye Screening

The Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA), Edo State Chapter, concluded its 2025 World Sight Day celebration with a thanksgiving service and free visual screening at the Miraculous Infant Jesus Catholic Church, Umelu Quarters, Benin City.

Addressing the congregation, the State Chairman of NOA, Dr. Charles Eguavoen, expressed gratitude to God for a successful World Sight Day program and for preserving the lives of optometrists in the state. He also appreciated the cordial relationship between the association and the parish community.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the 2025 World Sight Day Committee, Dr. Wellington Osadolor, urged parishioners to prioritize their eye health by going for regular eye examinations conducted by licensed optometrists. He reminded the congregation that “the eyes are the window to the world,” emphasizing the importance of professional eye care and early management of vision-related conditions.

The Assistant Parish Priest of the church welcomed the association and commended them for bringing free eye care services to the parish.

During the outreach, about 100 parishioners underwent eye screening, and medications were prescribed for those who required treatment.

The event marked the grand finale of the Edo State Chapter’s activities for World Sight Day 2025, themed “Love Your Eyes.”
